Kroger Zesty Italian Seasoning Blend
What it is
This is a dried herb and spice blend designed to bring a bright, herbaceous flavor to dishes. It typically combines a variety of common Italian herbs, often including oregano, basil, thyme, rosemary, and parsley. Some blends may also include garlic and onion powder for added savory depth. The combination is intended to evoke the classic tastes associated with Italian cuisine, offering a convenient way to season food without needing to measure out individual herbs.
How people cook with it
This seasoning is a versatile addition to many savory recipes. It can be used to enhance the flavor of both cooked dishes and simple snacks.
- Sprinkle on roasted vegetables
- Mix into salad dressings
- Season grilled meats
- Add to pasta sauces
To use, simply open the container and sprinkle the desired amount of seasoning directly onto your food. For marinades or rubs, combine it with olive oil or other liquids before applying to meats or vegetables. When making sauces or dressings, stir it in during the cooking process or whisk it into cold ingredients. The heat of cooking will help to bloom the dried herbs, releasing their full aroma and flavor. It can also be used as a finishing touch for added zest.
How it differs from similar foods
Compared to fresh herbs, this dried blend offers a more concentrated and shelf-stable flavor. It provides a consistent taste profile, whereas fresh herbs can vary in potency depending on their growing conditions and freshness. The blend also offers convenience, saving the effort of chopping and combining multiple individual herbs.
Who it is for
Home cooks looking for a quick way to add authentic Italian flavors to their meals.
