Hershey's York Peppermint Patties
What it is
This is a refreshing candy made with a chewy peppermint center covered in a dark chocolate coating. The combination of cool mint and rich chocolate creates a distinct flavor profile. Each patty is individually wrapped for convenience and freshness. They are a popular choice for those who enjoy mint-flavored sweets. The texture offers a satisfying chew followed by the snap of the chocolate shell.
How people cook with it
These minty delights are often enjoyed as a sweet treat or a palate cleanser after a meal.

- Snack on the go
- Party candy bowl
- Baking ingredient
York Peppermint Patties are primarily enjoyed as a standalone confection. They can be eaten directly from the wrapper for a quick burst of minty chocolate flavor. For a more elaborate use, they can be chopped and incorporated into baked goods like cookies, brownies, or cakes, adding a unique minty crunch and chocolatey richness. They also melt well, making them suitable for drizzling over desserts or creating a mint-infused chocolate ganache for cakes and pastries. Some people even freeze them for an extra firm texture.
How it differs from similar foods
Compared to other chocolate candies, York Peppermint Patties stand out due to their prominent peppermint flavor. While many chocolates offer sweetness or richness, the cooling sensation of mint is the defining characteristic here. The dark chocolate coating also provides a slightly less sweet and more intense cocoa flavor than milk chocolate alternatives.

How to keep the rest
To maintain freshness, store any remaining York Peppermint Patties in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and heat. Keep them in their original wrappers or an airtight container. This will help prevent the chocolate from melting or becoming stale, preserving their texture and flavor for future enjoyment.
