Walla Walla Sweet Onion & Poppyseed Dressing
What it is
This is a bottled salad dressing featuring the distinct flavor of Walla Walla sweet onions. It combines the mild sweetness of these onions with the texture and nutty taste of poppy seeds. The dressing is typically emulsified, creating a smooth consistency that coats greens well. It is ready to use straight from the bottle, offering a convenient way to add flavor to salads and other dishes. The Walla Walla onion's natural sweetness is a key characteristic of this dressing.
How people cook with it
This dressing is a versatile addition to any kitchen, perfect for enhancing a variety of dishes beyond just salads.
- Dressing for green salads
- Marinade for chicken or pork
- Dipping sauce for vegetables
- Glaze for roasted vegetables
Shake the bottle well before each use to ensure the ingredients are properly combined. Drizzle generously over your favorite leafy greens, mixed vegetables, or grain bowls. For a deeper flavor, use it as a marinade for lighter meats like chicken or fish before grilling or baking. It can also be used as a flavorful dipping sauce for fresh-cut vegetables or as a finishing glaze for roasted root vegetables, adding a touch of sweetness and texture.
How it differs from similar foods
Unlike vinaigrettes that rely on sharp vinegar, this dressing highlights the mellow sweetness of Walla Walla onions. The inclusion of poppy seeds adds a unique textural element and a subtle, earthy flavor that distinguishes it from simpler dressings. Its creamy texture also sets it apart from thinner, oil-based options.
Who it is for
Home cooks looking for a flavorful and convenient dressing to elevate their meals will appreciate this product.
