What it is
This is a pre-washed mix of tender young salad greens. It typically includes a variety of delicate leaves like baby spinach, arugula, red leaf lettuce, and radicchio. The blend offers a range of textures and flavors, from slightly peppery to subtly sweet. It is ready to eat straight from the package, making it a convenient option for quick meals. The greens are carefully selected and combined for a balanced taste and appearance.
How people cook with it
This versatile salad blend is perfect for creating quick and healthy meals. It serves as a base for a variety of salads and can be incorporated into other dishes.
- As a base for green salads
- Tucked into sandwiches and wraps
- Added to cooked dishes for freshness
- Mixed with other vegetables for a hearty salad
To use, simply open the container and pour the desired amount of greens into a bowl. You can then toss them with your favorite dressing, add toppings like nuts, seeds, cheese, or fruit, and serve as a side or main course. For a more substantial meal, consider adding grilled chicken, fish, or beans. It can also be gently wilted into warm dishes like pasta or stir-fries just before serving to add a fresh element. Ensure the greens are handled gently to maintain their delicate texture.
How it differs from similar foods
Compared to whole heads of lettuce, this spring mix offers a pre-selected variety of flavors and textures. It saves time on washing and chopping individual greens. The blend provides a more complex taste profile than a single type of lettuce, offering a ready-made gourmet experience.

How to keep the rest
To keep the remaining greens fresh, ensure the container is tightly sealed after each use. Store in the refrigerator, ideally in the crisper drawer. It is best to consume the salad within a few days of opening for optimal freshness and taste. Avoid washing the greens until just before you plan to eat them.
