Food Lion Scalloped Potatoes Mix
What it is
This is a dry seasoning mix designed to help you create a classic side dish of scalloped potatoes. It contains dehydrated ingredients that, when combined with milk and potatoes, form a creamy sauce. The mix provides the foundational flavors for the dish, typically including onion, garlic, and savory seasonings. It is intended to simplify the process of making scalloped potatoes from scratch, offering a convenient way to achieve a familiar taste.
How people cook with it
This mix is a convenient shortcut for preparing a comforting potato side dish. It is often used for weeknight meals or when entertaining guests.
- Quick potato side dish
- Comfort food preparation
- Weeknight meal enhancement
- Potluck contribution
To prepare, you will typically need fresh potatoes, which you will slice thinly. The contents of this packet are then combined with milk and sometimes butter in a baking dish with the potatoes. The mixture is stirred to ensure the potatoes are coated. The dish is then baked until the potatoes are tender and the sauce has thickened and turned golden brown. The exact proportions and cooking times may vary slightly depending on the specific recipe instructions provided on the packaging.
How it differs from similar foods
This mix differs from making scalloped potatoes from scratch by providing pre-portioned seasonings. While a homemade version allows for complete control over individual spice levels, this mix offers a consistent flavor profile that is designed to be broadly appealing and easy to achieve without measuring multiple dry ingredients.

How to keep the rest
After preparing your dish, store any remaining unmixed seasoning in its original packaging or an airtight container. Keep it in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and moisture to maintain its freshness and prevent clumping. Ensure the container is sealed tightly to preserve the flavor of the seasonings.
