Schnucks Real Mayonnaise
What it is
Schnucks Real Mayonnaise is a creamy condiment made with oil, egg yolks, and vinegar or lemon juice. It has a rich, smooth texture and a tangy flavor that complements many dishes. This mayonnaise is a staple in many kitchens, providing a versatile base for sauces, dressings, and spreads. Its emulsified structure gives it a stable consistency, making it ideal for a variety of culinary applications.
How people cook with it
This mayonnaise is a fundamental ingredient for enhancing the flavor and texture of countless foods.
- Sandwich spread
- Salad dressing base
- Dip for vegetables
- Binder for tuna salad
Mayonnaise can be used directly from the container as a spread on sandwiches, burgers, and wraps. It is also a key component in making creamy salad dressings, such as Caesar or ranch. When preparing cold salads like potato salad, coleslaw, or chicken salad, mayonnaise acts as a binder, coating the ingredients and adding richness. It can also be incorporated into dips and sauces to add a smooth, velvety texture and a subtle tang. For baking, it can sometimes be used as a fat substitute in cakes and muffins, contributing to moisture and tenderness.
How it differs from similar foods
Compared to lighter mayonnaise or salad dressings, real mayonnaise typically contains a higher percentage of oil and egg, resulting in a richer flavor and thicker consistency. This difference in fat content affects its texture and how it emulsifies in various dishes, making it a more robust choice for certain recipes.
Who it is for
Home cooks and professional chefs alike rely on this mayonnaise for its classic taste and versatility.
