Roundy’s Fisherman’s Reserve
These are large, uncooked shrimp, peeled and deveined for convenience. They are a versatile seafood option, offering a mild, slightly sweet flavor and a tender texture when properly cooked. The jumbo size makes them a substantial addition to many dishes, providing a satisfying bite. They are typically sold frozen to preserve freshness and can be thawed for immediate use in your favorite recipes.
Raw shrimp are a blank canvas for flavor, ready to absorb marinades and spices. They cook very quickly, making them ideal for weeknight meals.
To prepare, thaw the shrimp by placing them in a colander under cold running water for a few minutes, or by refrigerating them overnight. Once thawed, they can be seasoned with your preferred spices, herbs, and marinades. Cook them quickly over medium-high heat until they turn pink and opaque. Overcooking can make them tough, so watch them closely. They are excellent when added to sauces, stir-fries, or simply served as a main course.
Jumbo shrimp are larger than standard or medium varieties, offering a more substantial texture and presence in dishes. Their size means they may take slightly longer to cook than smaller shrimp, but they hold up better in heartier preparations without becoming lost.
Keep any unused, thawed shrimp refrigerated and cook them within 24 hours. If the shrimp are still frozen, store them in the freezer at 0°F (-18°C) or below. Ensure the packaging is sealed tightly to prevent freezer burn.
