Nielsen-Massey
Nielsen-Massey Pure Coffee Extract
What it is
This is a concentrated liquid flavoring made from high-quality coffee beans. It captures the rich, deep aroma and taste of freshly brewed coffee in a convenient, shelf-stable form. The extract is carefully processed to preserve the authentic coffee essence, offering a potent flavor that enhances a variety of dishes and beverages. It is a versatile ingredient for those seeking to add a distinct coffee note without the liquid volume or brewing process.
How people cook with it
Coffee extract is a powerful flavor enhancer for both sweet and savory creations. It is ideal for adding a subtle or pronounced coffee dimension to recipes.
- Enhancing chocolate desserts
- Adding depth to baked goods
- Flavoring coffee-based drinks
- Boosting savory sauces
A little goes a long way with pure coffee extract. Start with a small amount, such as a quarter teaspoon, and add more to taste. It can be stirred directly into batters, doughs, frostings, or sauces. For beverages, it mixes easily into milk, cream, or water to create instant coffee flavor. It is particularly effective when combined with other strong flavors like chocolate, caramel, or spices, where it can add complexity and a sophisticated coffee undertone.
How it differs from similar foods
Unlike brewed coffee, this extract provides intense coffee flavor without adding liquid, which can alter a recipe's consistency. It also offers a more stable and consistent coffee taste compared to instant coffee granules, which can sometimes impart a slightly bitter or artificial note.
Who it is for
Home bakers and professional chefs use this extract to easily infuse coffee flavor into their culinary creations.
How to keep the rest
Keep the bottle tightly sealed in a cool, dark place, away from direct sunlight and heat. Proper storage ensures the extract retains its potent flavor and aroma for an extended period. Refrigeration is not typically required, but always check the product packaging for specific recommendations.
