Reese's Peanut Butter Cups
What it is
Reese's Peanut Butter Cups are a popular candy confection consisting of a creamy peanut butter filling enrobed in milk chocolate. The distinctive cup shape allows for a balanced ratio of chocolate to peanut butter in every bite. This combination offers a sweet and salty flavor profile that has made it a favorite treat for many years. The texture is a delightful contrast between the smooth chocolate and the slightly granular peanut butter.
How people cook with it
These candies are often enjoyed as a standalone sweet treat. They can also be incorporated into various desserts for added flavor and texture.
- Enjoyed as a snack
- Added to cookies
- Used in brownies
- Topped on ice cream
When used in baking, Reese's Peanut Butter Cups can be chopped and folded into cookie dough or brownie batter before baking. They melt slightly during the baking process, creating pockets of warm, gooey peanut butter within the finished product. For toppings, they can be melted and drizzled over desserts or simply placed on top of ice cream. The chocolate coating helps them maintain their shape to some extent even when warm, providing a satisfying chew.
How it differs from similar foods
Compared to solid chocolate bars, Reese's Peanut Butter Cups offer a distinct dual flavor experience. The presence of the peanut butter filling creates a different mouthfeel and taste sensation than pure chocolate. The distinct cup shape also sets them apart visually and in terms of how the chocolate and peanut butter are proportioned.

How to keep the rest
To keep the remaining Reese's Peanut Butter Cups fresh, store them in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. Ensure the packaging is sealed tightly to prevent them from drying out or absorbing odors. They can be stored at room temperature, but refrigeration can help maintain their firmness, especially in warmer climates.
