Maria & Ricardo's
These are round, flatbreads made from organic yellow corn masa. The tortillas are soft and pliable, designed for easy folding and filling. They offer a mild corn flavor that complements many dishes. Their simple ingredients focus on the natural taste of corn.
These tortillas are a versatile base for a variety of Mexican-inspired meals.
To warm them, heat a dry skillet over medium heat and cook each tortilla for about 20-30 seconds per side until pliable and slightly puffed. Alternatively, wrap a stack in a damp paper towel and microwave for 30-60 seconds. For crispy tostadas, bake or fry them until golden and firm. They are best used shortly after warming to maintain their soft texture.
Compared to flour tortillas, these corn tortillas have a distinct corn flavor and a slightly more delicate texture. They tend to be less stretchy than flour tortillas, requiring gentle handling when folding.
After opening, reseal the package tightly to prevent the tortillas from drying out. Store them in the refrigerator to maintain freshness for up to a week. For longer storage, they can be frozen in their original packaging.
