Nature's Basket
Nature's Basket Organic Baby Arugula
What it is
This is a package of fresh, young arugula leaves. It is grown organically, meaning it was cultivated without synthetic pesticides or fertilizers. The leaves are harvested when they are small and tender, offering a delicate texture and a mild peppery flavor. This product is a ready-to-eat salad green, providing a convenient way to add fresh produce to meals. It is a single-ingredient item, focusing on the natural quality of the arugula.
How people cook with it
Baby arugula is a versatile green that can be used in many dishes. Its fresh flavor complements both simple and complex recipes.
- Tossed into fresh salads
- Added to sandwiches and wraps
- Topped on pizzas
- Mixed into pasta dishes
To use, simply open the package and rinse the leaves under cool water. Pat them gently dry with a clean towel or use a salad spinner. Baby arugula can be enjoyed raw in salads, where its peppery notes add a lively contrast to other ingredients. It can also be wilted slightly by adding it to hot dishes like pasta or pizza just before serving. Its delicate nature means it cooks very quickly, retaining some of its fresh bite.
How it differs from similar foods
Compared to mature arugula, baby arugula has smaller, more tender leaves. This results in a less intense peppery flavor and a softer texture. It is also less likely to be bitter. This makes it more approachable for those who find regular arugula too strong, and it integrates more easily into dishes without overpowering other flavors.
Who it is for
Home cooks and individuals looking for a quick and easy way to incorporate fresh greens into their diet.
How to keep the rest
After opening, keep any unused arugula refrigerated in its original packaging or a sealed container. Ensure the leaves are dry before storing to prevent spoilage. It is best consumed within a few days of purchase for optimal freshness and flavor. Proper storage helps maintain the crispness of the leaves.
