North Texas Raw & Unfiltered Honey
What it is
This is a 16-ounce jar of honey that has been minimally processed. It retains natural pollen and enzymes from the bees' nectar collection. The honey is not heated or filtered extensively, preserving its natural characteristics. It comes directly from the North Texas region, reflecting the local flora visited by the bees.
How people cook with it
Raw honey is a versatile ingredient that can be used in both sweet and savory dishes. It offers a distinct flavor profile that can elevate everyday meals and beverages.
- Drizzled over yogurt
- Sweetening tea
- Glazing roasted vegetables
- Adding to baked goods
In the kitchen, this raw and unfiltered honey can be used as a direct substitute for granulated sugar in many recipes. It adds a subtle floral note and a liquid sweetness that can enhance baked goods like cookies and cakes. It is also excellent when stirred into warm beverages such as tea or coffee, or used as a finishing touch on savory dishes like roasted chicken or pork. Its natural viscosity makes it a great base for salad dressings and marinades, providing a touch of sweetness and depth of flavor.
How it differs from similar foods
Unlike highly processed honey, this raw and unfiltered variety retains more of its natural pollen and enzymes. This can result in a slightly cloudier appearance and a more complex flavor profile, often with distinct floral undertones that vary depending on the local flowers the bees visited. It may also crystallize more readily due to the presence of natural sugars and pollen.
Who it is for
Home cooks and bakers who appreciate natural ingredients and unique flavor profiles will enjoy this honey.
How to keep the rest
To maintain its quality, store the honey in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. Keep the lid tightly sealed to prevent moisture absorption. If crystallization occurs, which is a natural process for raw honey, simply place the jar in a warm water bath until the honey returns to its liquid state.
