Unsweetened Dried Mango Slices
What it is
These are dried mango pieces that have not had any sulfur dioxide added during the drying process. They are also free from added sugars, allowing the natural sweetness and flavor of the mango to come through. The slices are typically soft and chewy, making them a convenient snack or ingredient. They retain much of the fruit's original character, offering a taste of tropical fruit in a preserved form.
How people cook with it
Dried mango slices are versatile in the kitchen, adding a burst of fruity flavor and texture to various dishes and snacks.
- Snack on them directly
- Add to trail mix
- Incorporate into baked goods
- Blend into smoothies
Enjoy these dried mango slices straight from the bag for a quick and satisfying snack. They can be added to homemade trail mixes alongside nuts and seeds for a sweet and chewy element. When baking, chop them into smaller pieces to include in muffins, scones, or cookies, providing pockets of tropical flavor. For a refreshing drink, blend them into smoothies to enhance the fruitiness and add a natural sweetness, complementing other fruits like pineapple or banana.
How it differs from similar foods
Unlike some dried fruits that are treated with sulfur dioxide for preservation and color, these mango slices are unsulphered, offering a more natural product. The absence of added sweeteners means their flavor is purely from the fruit itself, making them less intensely sweet than sugared varieties.
Who it is for
Home cooks and snackers who appreciate natural fruit flavors and prefer to avoid added sugars and preservatives will find these useful.
How to keep the rest
To keep the remaining dried mango slices fresh, store them in an airtight container in a cool, dry place. Ensure the container is sealed tightly to prevent moisture from entering, which can cause them to become sticky or spoil. Proper storage helps maintain their chewy texture and flavor for an extended period.
