Roundy's
Roundy's Enriched Lasagna Pasta Sheets
What it is
This is a package of dried lasagna pasta sheets, a staple for creating classic baked pasta dishes. The pasta is made from enriched macaroni product, meaning it has added nutrients. These wide, flat noodles are designed to be layered with sauces and cheeses, forming the structure of a lasagna. They are a convenient way to prepare this popular Italian-American comfort food.
How people cook with it
Lasagna pasta is primarily used for assembling baked casseroles. It provides the essential structure for dishes like traditional lasagna.
- Layering in baked pasta dishes
- Creating lasagna casseroles
- As a base for rich sauces
- As a component in baked ziti
Before assembling your lasagna, these pasta sheets typically require a brief boiling in salted water to soften them. This pre-cooking step ensures they cook evenly in the oven alongside the other ingredients. Some brands offer no-boil varieties, but these enriched macaroni sheets usually benefit from a short boil. Drain them carefully after boiling and arrange them in your baking dish, alternating layers with your chosen meat sauce, béchamel, ricotta cheese mixture, and mozzarella. Bake until bubbly and golden brown.
How it differs from similar foods
Unlike regular spaghetti or penne, lasagna sheets are specifically shaped for layering. Their flat, broad surface allows for distinct layers in a baked dish, creating a different texture and eating experience compared to smaller, tubular pastas. Some lasagna noodles are ruffled along the edges, which can help hold sauce.
Who it is for

How to keep the rest
To maintain freshness, store the unopened package of lasagna pasta in a cool, dry pantry. Once opened, ensure the remaining noodles are kept in an airtight container or the original packaging, sealed tightly, to prevent them from becoming stale or absorbing moisture.
