Knorr Roasted Vegetable Rice Mix
What it is
This is a convenient rice mix that combines long-grain white rice with dehydrated vegetables and savory seasonings. The blend aims to provide a flavorful and satisfying side dish with minimal preparation. It's designed to be cooked quickly on the stovetop, offering a taste of roasted vegetables without the need for fresh produce or extensive cooking time. The mix typically includes elements like carrots, bell peppers, and onions, along with herbs and spices that contribute to its overall aroma and taste profile.
How people cook with it
This rice mix is a versatile addition to weeknight meals. It can be served as a simple side or incorporated into more complex dishes.
- Quick side dish for dinner
- Base for a simple pilaf
- Filling for stuffed peppers
- Component in a rice bowl
To prepare, you typically combine the contents of the package with a specified amount of water and butter or oil in a saucepan. Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce the heat, cover, and simmer until the water is absorbed and the rice is tender. This process usually takes about 10 to 15 minutes. Stirring occasionally during the simmering phase can help ensure even cooking and prevent sticking. Once cooked, let it stand for a few minutes before fluffing with a fork.
How it differs from similar foods
Unlike plain white rice, this mix offers a pre-seasoned flavor profile and the inclusion of vegetable pieces. The roasting notes in the seasoning differentiate it from rice mixes that might have a more steamed or boiled vegetable taste. It provides a more complex flavor experience straight from the package.
Who it is for

How to keep the rest
Store the unopened package in a cool, dry place. Once prepared, any leftover rice should be refrigerated promptly in an airtight container and consumed within a few days. Reheat leftovers thoroughly before serving.
