What it is
This is a blend of ground spices designed to create the distinctive flavor of tikka curry. It contains a carefully selected mix of aromatic spices that work together to provide warmth, depth, and a gentle heat. The powder is ready to use, offering a convenient way to achieve authentic curry taste without needing to measure individual spices. It is suitable for a plant-based diet.
How people cook with it
This spice blend is perfect for adding authentic Indian-inspired flavor to a variety of dishes. It is a versatile ingredient for both everyday meals and special occasions.
- Marinating chicken or paneer
- Flavoring vegetable curries
- Seasoning rice dishes
- Creating dips and marinades
To use, simply add the tikka curry powder to your cooking at the appropriate stage. For curries, it can be sautéed with onions and garlic at the beginning of the cooking process to release its full aroma. It can also be mixed with yogurt or water to create a marinade for meats or vegetables before cooking. Adjust the amount to your personal preference for spice and flavor intensity. It works well in slow cooker recipes and quick stir-fries alike.
How it differs from similar foods
Compared to a generic curry powder, this tikka blend is specifically formulated to replicate the complex flavor profile of tikka dishes. It typically includes ingredients like paprika, cumin, coriander, turmeric, and garam masala in proportions that yield a rich, slightly smoky, and mildly spiced result, often with a hint of tomato.
