Food Club Grated Parmesan & Romano Italian Style Cheese Blend
What it is
This is a blend of grated hard Italian cheeses, primarily Parmesan and Romano. It is finely shredded, making it easy to sprinkle and melt. The combination offers a sharp, salty, and nutty flavor profile that enhances many dishes. This cheese blend is a convenient way to add authentic Italian taste to your cooking without grating fresh cheese.
How people cook with it
This cheese blend is a versatile ingredient for adding flavor and richness to a wide range of meals. It is perfect for finishing dishes or incorporating into recipes.
- Sprinkle on pasta dishes
- Top baked casseroles
- Mix into bread doughs
- Garnish soups and salads
You can use this grated cheese blend in many ways. Sprinkle it directly over hot pasta, pizza, or baked dishes like lasagna and casseroles just before serving to allow it to melt slightly and release its aroma. It can also be stirred into sauces, soups, or gravies during the last few minutes of cooking to add depth of flavor. For a crispy topping, mix it with breadcrumbs and bake over vegetables or chicken. It's also a great addition to homemade salad dressings or marinades.
How it differs from similar foods
Compared to using only Parmesan, the addition of Romano cheese provides a sharper, more pungent, and saltier bite. This blend offers a more complex flavor profile than single-cheese options. The pre-grated format also differs from block cheese, which requires manual grating and can have a slightly different texture when melted.
Who it is for
Home cooks and professional chefs alike use this cheese blend to quickly add authentic Italian flavor to their culinary creations.
How to keep the rest
After opening, ensure the package is tightly sealed to prevent the cheese from drying out or absorbing odors. Store the remaining cheese in the refrigerator. It is best used within the recommended timeframe on the packaging to maintain its optimal flavor and texture.
