Franklin FARMS
This is a block of firm tofu, made from soybeans. Firm tofu holds its shape well when cooked, making it suitable for a variety of dishes. It has a mild flavor that readily absorbs marinades and seasonings. This product is a staple for those seeking plant-based meal options.
It can be prepared in many ways, from pan-frying to baking.
Before cooking, it is often beneficial to press firm tofu to remove excess water. This can be done using a tofu press or by wrapping it in paper towels and placing a heavy object on top. Once pressed, it can be cut into cubes, slices, or crumbles. It absorbs marinades well, so consider soaking it for at least 30 minutes before cooking. Pan-frying, baking, or stir-frying are common methods to achieve a desirable texture, often resulting in a slightly crispy exterior.
Firm tofu is denser and holds its shape better than silken or soft tofu. This makes it ideal for dishes where the tofu needs to remain intact, unlike silken tofu which is best for blending into sauces or desserts.
After opening, store any unused firm tofu in an airtight container submerged in water in the refrigerator. Change the water daily. It is best to consume the remaining tofu within 3 to 5 days for optimal freshness.
