Napoleon Co. Extra Light Tasting Olive Oil
What it is
This is a refined olive oil that has undergone a process to remove much of the natural olive flavor and aroma. It offers a very mild taste, making it a versatile choice for cooking. The refining process also results in a higher smoke point compared to extra virgin olive oil. This product comes in a small 15 ml size, suitable for single uses or for those who prefer to have a variety of oils on hand without committing to a large bottle.
How people cook with it
This type of olive oil is excellent for cooking methods where a neutral flavor is desired. It can be used in a wide range of dishes without altering the taste of the other ingredients.
- Baking cakes and pastries
- Sautéing vegetables
- Roasting meats
- Making light vinaigrettes
Use this olive oil for everyday cooking tasks. It is well-suited for high-heat applications like frying or searing because of its elevated smoke point. When baking, its neutral flavor ensures that the sweetness of your desserts or the savory notes of your breads are not overshadowed. It can also be used in marinades or to coat pans before cooking to prevent sticking. Its light character makes it a good choice for delicate sauces or when you want the flavors of your herbs and spices to shine through.
How it differs from similar foods
Unlike extra virgin olive oil, which has a distinct fruity or peppery taste, this extra light tasting olive oil is much more neutral. It also typically has a higher smoke point, making it more suitable for high-heat cooking methods where a delicate olive flavor is not desired.
Who it is for
Home cooks who need a neutral cooking oil for various culinary applications will find this useful.
How to keep the rest
To maintain its quality, store the remaining oil in a cool, dark place, away from direct sunlight and heat. Ensure the cap is tightly sealed after each use to prevent oxidation and preserve its mild flavor. The small quantity makes it easy to store without taking up much space.
