Excel Brand White Granulated Sugar
What it is
Excel Brand White Granulated Sugar is a common pantry staple. It is a finely granulated sweetener made from sugarcane or sugar beets. This sugar is highly refined, resulting in pure sucrose crystals that are uniform in size and bright white in appearance. Its clean taste and consistent texture make it a versatile ingredient in a wide range of culinary applications. It dissolves easily in liquids, making it ideal for beverages and sauces.
How people cook with it
This granulated sugar is a fundamental ingredient for both sweet and savory cooking. It provides sweetness and contributes to texture in baked goods.
- Sweetening beverages
- Baking cakes and cookies
- Making glazes and sauces
- Caramelizing for desserts
Excel Brand White Granulated Sugar is used to add sweetness to recipes. In baking, it helps create tender textures and contributes to browning through caramelization. It can be creamed with butter to create a base for many baked goods, or dissolved in liquids for syrups and drinks. It is also used in marinades and rubs to balance flavors and aid in browning meats. The fine granulation ensures it blends smoothly into batters and doughs, contributing to an even distribution of sweetness throughout the finished product.
How it differs from similar foods
Compared to brown sugar, granulated sugar lacks molasses, giving it a neutral sweetness and a lighter color. Its fine crystals also dissolve more readily than coarser sugars, making it preferred for certain delicate preparations where a smooth texture is desired.
Who it is for
Home cooks and professional bakers rely on this sugar for its predictable performance and clean sweetness.
How to keep the rest
To maintain its quality, store Excel Brand White Granulated Sugar in a cool, dry place in an airtight container. This prevents moisture absorption, which can cause clumping and affect its texture. Keeping it sealed also protects it from absorbing odors from other pantry items.
