What it is
These are diced tomatoes that have been seasoned with a blend of spices commonly found in chili preparations. The tomatoes are typically canned, offering convenience and a longer shelf life. They are a convenient way to add tomato flavor and a hint of spice to meals without needing to chop fresh tomatoes or mix your own spices.
How people cook with it
This product is excellent for adding a quick flavor boost to many savory dishes. It simplifies the process of incorporating seasoned tomatoes into your cooking.
- Soups and stews
- Sauces and dips
- Casseroles

You can add these diced tomatoes directly from the can to your cooking. They are already seasoned, so they can be incorporated into simmering dishes like chili, stews, or pasta sauces to add body, flavor, and a touch of heat. For quicker meals, they can be heated and served as a side dish or mixed into ground meat for taco fillings. The diced texture provides a pleasant bite, and the seasoning infuses the entire dish with its characteristic warmth. They are a great shortcut for weeknight meals.
How it differs from similar foods
Unlike plain diced tomatoes, this variety comes pre-seasoned, saving you the step of adding individual spices. The chili-style seasoning offers a distinct flavor profile that is different from plain tomatoes or those seasoned with herbs like basil or oregano.
