Del Monte Crushed Pineapple In Juice
What it is
This is a convenient way to enjoy the taste of pineapple. The fruit has been finely chopped and packed in its own natural juice. This preparation method helps to retain the fresh, sweet, and slightly tart flavor of the pineapple. It is ready to be used in various dishes without any need for peeling or cutting fresh fruit. The juice adds moisture and a touch of sweetness, making it versatile for both sweet and savory applications.
How people cook with it
Crushed pineapple in juice is a versatile ingredient that can be incorporated into many recipes. It adds a burst of tropical flavor and texture.
- Baking cakes and muffins
- Creating fruit salads
- Making savory glazes
- Topping yogurt or ice cream
Simply open the can or pouch and drain the juice if desired, or use it along with the crushed pineapple. It can be stirred directly into cake batters for added moisture and flavor, or folded into cream cheese frostings. For savory dishes, the crushed pineapple and its juice can form the base of a sweet and tangy glaze for pork or chicken. It's also a quick addition to homemade salsa or chutney, providing a refreshing counterpoint to spicy ingredients. Its small pieces make it easy to distribute evenly throughout any mixture.
How it differs from similar foods
Unlike pineapple chunks or tidbits, crushed pineapple is much finer, offering a softer texture and a more integrated flavor profile in cooked dishes. It disperses more easily, blending seamlessly into batters and sauces without large pieces. The juice it's packed in also contributes moisture and sweetness directly to the food.

How to keep the rest
Refrigerate any unused portion in a sealed container. It should be consumed within a few days to maintain its freshness and quality. Proper storage prevents the fruit from drying out and preserves its characteristic taste and aroma.
