Coconut Cream Powder
What it is
This is a dehydrated form of coconut cream. It is made by processing fresh coconut milk and then removing the water content. The result is a fine powder that retains the rich flavor and aroma of coconut. It is a convenient way to add coconut essence to various dishes without the need for fresh coconuts or canned coconut milk. The powder is typically white or off-white in color and has a slightly sweet, tropical scent.
How people cook with it
This powder is a versatile ingredient for both sweet and savory cooking. It dissolves easily in liquids, making it simple to incorporate into recipes.
- Thickening sauces
- Flavoring baked goods
- Creating dairy-free desserts
- Adding richness to curries
To use, you can typically reconstitute the powder by mixing it with a specific amount of warm water. The exact ratio will depend on the desired consistency and the product's instructions. For instance, a tablespoon of powder might be mixed with a few tablespoons of water to create a paste or a more liquid cream. It can also be added directly to dry ingredients in baking or blended into smoothies and shakes for an instant coconut boost. Experiment with the amount to achieve your preferred flavor intensity and texture in your cooking.
How it differs from similar foods
Unlike canned coconut milk or cream, this powder offers a longer shelf life and requires no refrigeration until reconstituted. It also allows for precise control over the amount of coconut flavor and richness added to a dish, as you can use as much or as little as needed.

How to keep the rest
Store the unopened package in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. Once opened, ensure the container is tightly sealed to prevent moisture absorption, which can cause clumping. Keep any remaining powder in its original packaging or an airtight container to maintain freshness.
