Simple Truth Organic Creamed Honey
What it is
This is a jar of creamed honey, a type of honey that has been processed to create a smooth, spreadable texture. It is made by gently agitating liquid honey, which encourages the formation of fine crystals. This process results in a honey that is opaque and has a consistency similar to soft butter, without sacrificing the natural sweetness and flavor of pure honey. It is a simple, natural sweetener.
How people cook with it
Creamed honey is a versatile ingredient that can be enjoyed in many ways, both in sweet and savory dishes. Its texture makes it easy to spread and incorporate into recipes.
- Spread on toast
- Drizzled over yogurt
- Sweetened baked goods
- Mixed into tea
You can use creamed honey just like you would regular liquid honey, but its texture offers some unique advantages. It spreads easily onto warm toast or biscuits, creating a delightful topping. It can be stirred into hot beverages like tea or coffee, dissolving smoothly. When baking, it can be incorporated into batters and doughs, providing moisture and sweetness. For a simple dessert, drizzle it over fresh fruit, yogurt, or ice cream. It also works well in salad dressings or marinades for a touch of sweetness.
How it differs from similar foods
Unlike liquid honey, which can be runny and sometimes messy, creamed honey has a thick, paste-like consistency. This makes it easier to control the amount you use and prevents it from dripping. The fine crystal structure also gives it a slightly different mouthfeel, often described as smoother and richer.
Who it is for
Home cooks and bakers who appreciate natural sweeteners and enjoy a smooth texture will find this product appealing.
How to keep the rest
To maintain the quality of your creamed honey, store the unopened jar in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. Once opened, keep it tightly sealed. Refrigeration is not typically necessary and can cause it to harden further, though it will not spoil.
