Chocolate Sandwich Cookies
What it is
These are sweet sandwich cookies made with two crisp chocolate wafers. Between the wafers is a creamy, sweet filling. The cookies are typically round and have a distinct chocolate flavor. They are a popular treat enjoyed by many people for their satisfying crunch and sweet, creamy center. The combination of the chocolate cookie and the sweet filling makes them a classic snack.
How people cook with it
These cookies are a versatile treat. They can be enjoyed on their own or incorporated into various desserts.
- Enjoy as a standalone snack
- Crush for pie crusts
- Add to ice cream sundaes
- Decorate cakes and cupcakes
These chocolate sandwich cookies are often eaten straight from the package as a quick and satisfying snack. For more elaborate uses, the cookies can be broken apart and the cream filling scraped off if desired. The chocolate wafers can be crushed into fine crumbs to form a base for cheesecakes or pies. They can also be used as a crunchy topping for ice cream or yogurt. Some people enjoy dipping them in milk for a classic pairing. They are also a fun addition to homemade cookies or brownies, adding both texture and chocolate flavor.
How it differs from similar foods
Compared to plain chocolate cookies, these have a sweet, creamy filling sandwiched between two chocolate wafers. This filling provides a contrasting texture and flavor profile. Unlike cookies with a solid chocolate coating, the chocolate flavor here is primarily in the wafer itself, with the filling offering a different kind of sweetness.

How to keep the rest
To keep the rest of these cookies fresh, ensure the package is sealed tightly after opening. Store them in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. This will help maintain their crispness and prevent the filling from becoming sticky or melting. Avoid storing them in humid environments.
