KEN'S
Ken's Balsamic Vinaigrette Dressing
What it is
This is a ready-to-use salad dressing made with balsamic vinegar and oil. It offers a sweet and tangy flavor profile that complements a variety of greens and vegetables. The dressing is emulsified, meaning the oil and vinegar are blended together to create a smooth, consistent texture. It is typically bottled and sealed for freshness, making it a convenient pantry staple for quick meal preparation.
How people cook with it
Balsamic vinaigrette is a versatile dressing that can elevate many dishes. It is commonly used on salads but has other applications in the kitchen.
- Tossed with mixed greens
- Drizzled over roasted vegetables
- Marinade for chicken or pork
- Dip for bread
Before using, give the bottle a good shake to ensure the ingredients are well combined. Pour the desired amount over your favorite salad greens, such as romaine lettuce, spinach, or a spring mix. It also works wonderfully as a finishing drizzle over warm roasted vegetables like broccoli, Brussels sprouts, or asparagus. For a flavorful marinade, combine it with herbs and spices and let meats soak in the tangy goodness before cooking. It can even serve as a simple, flavorful dip for crusty bread.
How it differs from similar foods
Compared to other vinaigrettes, balsamic dressing has a distinct sweet and slightly acidic taste due to the balsamic vinegar. It often has a darker color than lighter vinaigrettes. The flavor is generally more pronounced and complex, making it a popular choice for those who enjoy a bolder dressing.
