Organic Cracked Corn for Poultry
What it is
This is a bag of organic cracked corn, a whole grain feed supplement. It is made from corn that has been broken into smaller pieces. The organic certification means it is grown without synthetic pesticides or fertilizers. This product is intended as a treat or supplement to a balanced diet for poultry. It provides energy and is a source of carbohydrates. The pieces are small enough for chickens and other birds to easily consume.
How people cook with it
Cracked corn is a popular treat for backyard chickens and other fowl. It is often given in the afternoon to encourage foraging behavior.
- A daily treat for chickens
- Supplement for ducks and geese
- Encourages natural foraging
- A rewarding snack
Offer this cracked corn to your poultry as a supplement to their regular balanced feed. It is best given in the late afternoon. This timing can help keep birds occupied and content as they settle down for the evening. You can scatter it on the ground, in their run, or in a shallow feeder. Avoid overfeeding, as it is a supplement and not a complete diet. Ensure your birds always have access to fresh water and their primary feed.
How it differs from similar foods
Cracked corn differs from whole corn kernels because it is broken into smaller pieces, making it easier for poultry to digest and consume. It also differs from pelleted feeds, which are a complete diet. This product is a supplement, offering a different texture and energy source compared to finely ground grains.
Who it is for
Backyard poultry keepers and small-scale farmers often use this product to supplement their birds' diets.
How to keep the rest
Store any remaining cracked corn in a cool, dry place. Ensure the bag is sealed tightly to prevent moisture and pests. Keeping it in its original packaging is usually sufficient. Avoid storing it in direct sunlight or in areas with high humidity to maintain freshness.
